Visit Mull and Iona is awarded £18,000 for “Wild Isles” marketing campaign
Visit Mull & Iona (VMI) has been awarded £18,000 from Visit Scotland’s Destination and Sector Marketing Fund to help create a “Wild Isles” campaign to encourage visitors to use local wildlife and outdoor activity operators.
As one of the UK’s leading wildlife destinations, our islands are home to a growing number of high quality wildlife, outdoor activity and adventure operators. “Wild Isles” will bring all operators together in one dedicated website and printed guide, to offer visitors the opportunity to have the best experience of Mull and Iona outdoor environments, throughout the year. The grant will fund new video and photography as well as social media advertising and influencer visits. We are delighted that Gordon Buchanan has agreed to be the ambassador for the “Wild Isles” campaign.
While many visitors come to Mull and Iona specifically to see wildlife and enjoy outdoor activities, many lack the knowledge of where to explore safely and without disturbing wildlife. “Wild Isles” will encourage sustainable and responsible tourism, detailing every local operator, from wildlife watching and kayaking to rock climbing and guided walks. Using local experts will ensure visitors have the best possible experience of the outdoors during their stay. “Wild Isles” is also supported by the Waterfall Fund and Mull Eagle Watch
VMI was able to secure this funding because of its status as the recognised Destination Marketing Organisation for Mull and Iona which is responsible for the visitor website www.visitmullandiona.co.uk . The “Wild Isles” project is the third in a series of VMI recent campaigns to support sustainable tourism for the islands, following the new “Mull and Iona Arts Trail” and the revival of “The Quest”
VMI’s membership is now 150 strong, across all tourism sectors on the islands. New members are very welcome – please find out how to join here
